She came, she saw, she left … again!

Georgia arrived home from New York just in time for Christmas; we thought Zara would be thrilled to see her best buddy again.

It took her a few days to reacquaint herself with another human in the house and then it seemed that all was right in the world again and there had been no rift in her timeline.

This pair managed to get back into their old shared routines that included shopping expeditions and bonding together on the couch after the long summer days.

We celebrated Georgia’s 21st birthday whilst she was at home and of course, Zara was thrilled to be surrounded by so many people eating food that may or may not have dropped onto the ground in her vicinity.

Whilst this dog loves to pose for photographs, she is always on the lookout for food…

Then, no sooner had she been accepted back in to this dog’s life and routines, Georgia packed her bags and left again, bound for New York and acting school.

Zara no longer waits in Georgia’s bedroom, nor stares at the front door for her return.

She gets out and about but the activities just aren’t the same without Georgia by her side.

We who remain at home with Zara would prefer not to have to keep her spirits buoyed but we do try to distract her from her loss and keep her entertained as best we can.

Georgia will be back home again in 2 months, but Zara doesn’t know that so in the meantime, a dog has to do what a dog has to do, just to make it through…

3 whole months!

It has been 3 whole months since this dog’s owner left her to study in New York city.

3 whole months of running down the hall to find that bedroom empty.

3 whole months of  waiting at the front door in the hope that Georgia will arrive home anytime soon.

Little does she know that she only has less than 3 more weeks to wait until she’ll be reunited with her best friend;

I’ll let you know how that goes.

35 days, but who’s counting

Georgia has been gone 35 days – but who’s counting?

This dog is counting, if she can count, and misses her owner every day.

Through careful deduction, and with quite a few hints, she may have worked out where Georgia has gone, as you can see:

Zara is reading up on New York, without leaving the comfort of her own bed.

This dog's blog - 35 days but who's counting
Zara sees the size of New York and takes a nap.

Zara has to absorb all this new information and her next step is to work out what is New York and where did it come from?

And do they have treats there?

Stay tuned for the next exciting episode of This Dog’s Blog…

3 weeks have passed

3 weeks have passed since Zara’s owner, Georgia, left her side to study overseas.

This week Zara took time out from her grieving to search for Georgia outside the comfort of her home.

She thought she would head to places she knew Georgia might go, based on her knowledge of her best friend.

Could she be in Bunnings, where “lowest prices are just the beginning”…

Had Georgia had taken a trip aboard the Spirit of Tasmania; Zara knows her best friend to “be a spirited traveller”…

With no luck thus far,  Zara thought she’d just wait outside the Stage Door, the first one she could find, just in case Georgia was performing in a show.

Alas, Georgia was nowhere to be found, but this dog is certainly onto the scent of where her Georgia might be, somewhere across the sea, very close to a stage door, and many more.

Day 1

This is Zara.  She is 12 and a half years old.

She is a cross between Australian Terrier, Chihuahua and King Charles Cavalier Spaniel.

Her owner, my daughter, has just left to study overseas for the next 2 years.

This blog is to chronicle this dog’s daily life in photos and show my daughter how Zara copes without her.
